Support for All Who Need It, When They Need It

Lisa Hubbard and Becky Rowe

Lisa Hubbard (left) and Becky Rowe (right) say that since getting involved at Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions, they've gained a deeper knowledge of the true value and meaning of hospice.

Lisa Hubbard and Becky Rowe describe themselves as cheerleaders for Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions, telling its story every chance they get. They also give their time, knowledge and money to see that it is in place for the community.

"As a board member of Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions, I've absorbed a wealth of knowledge about hospice," Lisa says. "There is so much about the inner workings of hospice that warms my heart. The caring staff and excellent facilities, the social services team that makes sure everything is in place, and the administrators that give the assurance that both the patient and the family are equally taken care of."

Becky has also seen the value first hand. "Being a nurse and delivering care to sometimes very ill people, I know the need and importance of the time for care over cure. I see the struggles that both the dying patient and the family are going through. Hospice is the answer," she says.

Lisa and Becky say they realize there are hundreds of thousands of dollars needed every year to help cover the cost of unreimbursed care that insurance and Medicare doesn't cover, in addition to the charity care hospice provides for those who can't pay. They support Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions through annual cash donations and by attending various fundraisers, like the annual Oktoberfest.

They also strongly believe in planned giving and encourage others to take the time to learn the lasting benefits of this concept. In 2018, Lisa and Becky started the Hubbard-Rowe Foundation Endowment Fund through the Wyoming Community Foundation. They declared that when they die, a stipulated percentage of their assets will go to Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions. The creation of this endowment fund was taken care of by the Wyoming Community Foundation and is stated in their will.

In addition, in 2019, Lisa and Becky started a non-endowed donor advised fund, also through the Wyoming Community Foundation. They funded this plan by donating shares of stock they owned. By donating the stock directly to a charity, they receive the tax benefit of not having capital gains taxed. The Wyoming Community Foundation took care of selling the stock and holds the cash in the donor advised fund where the principal grows over time and they never have the burden of tax consequences. They advise when and where they want this money to be donated to nonprofit organizations like Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions.

Lisa and Becky have always worked hard and smart throughout their careers and have always dreamed of giving back.

They are believers in "Our Caring Promise"—that by giving, they are making a promise to everyone in our community that when they need it, Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions will be there—every time to everyone, no matter what.
